Feng Shui is a popular decorating style that is based on the logical structure of living spaces. It is highly recommended for use in children’s rooms, in order to ensure harmony, relaxation and inspiration as well as success in school. Avid believers in Feng Shui claim that the arrangements within a house can easily affect the feelings of the people who live there, as well as attract certain energies in their lives.
In order to give your child’s life a proper balance, it is essential to see the belongings in his room, as well as the events in his life. Make sure you take a look at both of these factors together since both your child and his room are part of a singular system. If your child has trouble concentrating on things, try to make his bedroom more soothing by applying nature-like sounds, as well as soft fabrics and lighting. Applying Feng Shui in your child’s room can help improve safety and harmony in his life.
You want to make sure that nothing in your child’s room will cause harm. You want it to be a safe and comfortable when your child enters. Placing the bed against a wall will keep them safe from falling out of both sides and choosing a light fixture which they are able to turn on and off themselves will show them there’s nothing to be scared of. They also will be able to flip the switch in the middle of the night if they feel scared.
Clutter must be consistently purged. Remember to place all electronics, books and toys in storage bins tucked away in the closet or under the bed. You can also use a beautiful armoire to hide other unnecessary distractions, such as a television, video games, or a stereo.
Just like adults, children need their rest, too, so keep the room stimulation to a moderate level, in order to induce sleep once it is time for bed. Extremely bright pastels should never be used in a child’s room because they can cause the space to be overwhelming and stimulating. You should also make sure toys put back in storage bins and tucked away immediately after play time is over, so that the child understands that it is bedtime.
Area rugs are a great way to soften up a rooms feeling. Make sure you choose a soft one to the touch so your child feels secure. Adding an area rug to a room will also balance the walls out.
If your child’s room has sloped ceilings, use these angles to create a great Feng Shui feel. Try to avoid placing posters in the room since they tent to be hard and busy looking.
If you aren’t quite sure what Feng Shui is but you want to create this style in your child’s room or any other room in the home, try researching it before decorating a space. Another great idea to make sure your child’s room is safe and has that Feng Shui feel is to sleep in it for a night. Look around and see what the vision is before you rest your head and also when you wake up. Also take into consideration shadows which may appear with the glare of the night light. Make sure it’s not going to scare your child if they wake up in the middle of the night. On the other hand, if the room is bright due to a street light then place darkening shades on their windows to give them peace. If your child is old enough to help you decorate their room encourage them to help you. This will be a great learning experience for them and also show them that other cultures have great design techniques. Also ask them how they feel when they enter their room. Make sure nothing is harsh to their eyes and they feel at peace with the decor.
